FCC Rules & Regulations

Part 15 and other rules of relevance to LF experimenters.
These are the official and authoritative annual versions mirrored from the USGPO site, October 2016.
(Unless noted, these are PDF files ranging from a few hundred KB up to several MB in size.)

  • Part 15* Rules for all no-license radio services in the US.
  • HiFER Rules (HTML) Simple Web document concerning only operation in the 13.56 MHz band.
  • OET Bulletin 63* (911 KB) Title: "Understanding the Regulations for Low-Power, Non-Licensed Transmitters"
  • Part 2* Frequency allocations, treaty notes, emission designators, equipment authorization procedures.
  • Part 5* Experimental Radio Service regs, under which some operators are licensed for higher power at 630, 1750, 2200 and 4000 meters.
  • Part 97* Amateur Radio Service, for those who have or are studying for a ham ticket.
