A couple of jobs ago, I worked for a company that made RFID devices. There was quite a bit of modeling work for the "antenna" systems - usually a resonan circuit. I recall they strove for fairly modes Q factors in the range 65 to 70. RFID in this context is communication by induction, rather than radio, but it would be interesting to know at what range a signal could be detected.

I didn't work directly on the electronics or comms part of the work, but was occupied as a process engineer bringing up new tools in the chip fab. A great deal more 13.56 MHz energy was developed in plasma etch and deposition systems. It always intrigued me to wonder how much escaped into the aether.
