My friend Ian VE3DJI (who runs hifer beacon KAH) did the diagnostics and surgery. My small contribution was to find someone who had crystals. I found someone and managed to get a few which were cut for the 6.800 Mhz range. Ian may be checking these posts from his holiday time in Florida so hopefully he can shed some light on his work.

So far...in less than a week, the signal has done well comparing it to my 13 MHz beacon which runs at the same time. Signals are much more consistent on a daily basis. Mind you, I'm using a vertical on 13 MHz. I may try a dipole in the spring to make a better comparison

Its my understanding this range is available for Canada (and possibly other countries) but believe the U.S is excluded from this small ISM band for experimentation. Maybe others can confirm this.
