This week afforded an opportunity to monitor 22m now that we are returned to "PVC Towers". Naturally, this coincided with unsettled geomagnetic conditions, and rather little by way of activity. Even atmospheric noise appears relatively suppressed at times. However, there has been some more promising propagation in the last couple of days. One exception to the rule has been quite consistent detection of NC, at times this was the only signal received in any 24H period.

In the last three days, from the beginning of August, some lift in conditions is apparent, with SZX making sporadic appearances during the late evening (22:30 PST) on Aug 1, along with its WSPR transmission. Still later around 23:45, NI5FX WSPR appeared (not decoded on this occasion, but picked up this morning at 08:56 and the frequency of the former trace verified).

Although pickings have been slim, another incidence of the random "pips" has been recorded, this morning circa 22:00 (PST). A coincidental weak but continuous signal accompanied the stronger brief "pips". These do, however, appear to be related, as the strong and weak emissions exhibit similar drift. After a brief absence a second incidence of "pips" was received, again having the accompaniment of a weak continuous signal aproximately 300 Hz above the momentary emissions and exhibiting the same frequency instability. A screenshot is attached.

More soon. PVC will return to the air at 6WPM at 3 pm PST.
