Finland
October 1, 2024mw
252 Arctic Radio, Inari, 1 kW.
252 kHz is Finland frequency according to Geneva plan 1975. It was used by the Lahti longwave station
which was closed down in 1993. The Finnish Traficom now licensed Arctic Radio in September 2024. Arctic
Radio is operated by Matthew King, a British citizen who has been living in Inari for several years. Matthew writes that ”…the transmitter will be driven from Czech to here and we will do the setup and testing late October. The transmitter will be housed in my garage and the antenna on my land. A 600m longwire, a small Marconi T and a loop will be tested in October. I’m also looking for a better permanent transmitter site.
Things are at a very early stage but they will grow as I plan to make this a full-time professional station.”
