WWVB south antenna array repaired

Some of you may know that since April this year, WWVB 60 kHz has been operating at reduced power due to wind damage to its 400 foot high 4-tower south antenna array. Since then, the station has been running only with its 400 foot high 4-tower north antenna array. The two arrays each are driven by separate but synchronized transmitters, so since April, WWVB has been running on about half power (see my article in the July-August Lowdown for details). Today the following update was posted on the WWVB website:

“Update 11 October 2024: As of 10 October 2024, 2300 UTC, WWVB is operating at full power.“

Actually, I had noticed last night (local near Boston) !that the WWVB sigs were noticeably stronger. So now maybe all of our “atomic clocks” and “atomic watches” in N. America might start synching properly again. 😀
