Thanks for the kind words, Bruce. Yes, QRSS is a tremendously versatile technique for enhancing performance of many modes under extremely low power or high noise conditions. The LF experimenter community pretty much pioneered the tools back in the early 90s, but now there's a hardcore fan base of hams using QRSS in all of the HF ham bands, especially 30 m. Maybe K5MO will comment on the matter a bit further.

I also like the description of your sidetone-beat method for identifying phase modulated carriers. A PM carrier retains its phase shift, degree for degree, in almost any type of mixing process. If the beat process outputs a lower frequency tone, or even just imposes its slow-acting envelope on the amplitude of another otherwise steady tone, the effect on the ear can be magnified well beyond the capabilities of the ear-brain system alone when fed a single tone at several hundred Hz pitch. Maybe you can try that on the very narrow shift of EH at some point.
