Lowfer TAG, in Raymond, ME (FN43sv), is back on the air until the spring. Frequency is unchanged at 185.302 kHz, and no mods have been made in the 1 watt setup. Mode is QRSS60, which is CW with 60 second dots. TAG spends its winters in a very cold unheated basement, with only the occasional mouse as company. The exciter was a bit balky starting up today, so my fingers are crossed. For those new to this stuff, there would be nothing to copy by ear unless you were in southern Maine. And 60 second dots will try your patience! In general, you'll need a stable receiver (SDRs are fine), and a computer running ARGO or similar QRSS program. For ARGO, I'd suggest 30second, slow settings. Programs like Spectrum Laboratory work great, but require some work to set up. TAG's frequency of 185.302 kHz is pretty exact. I'll check it later this week from my home QTH, but it should be within 0.01 Hz, if experience applies. The frequency is controlled by a 10 MHz proportional-oven crystal oscillator. Reports are always welcome. John, W1TAG
