Gedas,

Looking at the present Lowfer beacon list on this site, I can comment on some of the entries:

JH - Doubt that it's on, and I don't think it was last winter. He's good about posting.
KE - Probably not.
WH2XVN - There's nothing current on-line... The west coast folks may know.
22A - Doubt it.
SIW - Obviously on the air
HK - Doubt it.
WM - Definitely on the air.
TAG - Very definitely on the air October through May each year.
WH2XXP - Nothing noted on-line for about 4 years.
SJ - Definitely off air, unlikely to return
GNB - No loggings seen on-line.
EAR - Off air, unlikely to return, antenna taken down.

Just to make you feel bad, a list from 24 years ago showed 63 Lowfers that were pretty much confirmed as on the air.

Lyle, K0LR, had it right when he said that getting ham bands at 630 and 2200 meters would kill the Lowfer activity. But, in my opinion, it's not because the gang has gone there. It's because the "thrill" has worn off. Too bad, because the stuff you can do with 1 watt is still very interesting.

Anyway, my 2 cents...

John, W1TAG
