Marcy, I have noticed many reviews on eHam that report similar observations of better performance near the ground than at elevated locations. It would be interesting and potentially very useful if someone could figure out why that is so often the case. But none of them that I have read thus far really talk about whether the improvement is in terms of increased signal strength, or decreased noise level. (The effect does not appear limited to Pixel's loop, either.) Can you go into more detail on your own impressions about this improvement? Thanks.
