After I expanded my panoramic view I saw up to seven different carriers coming on at the exact same time. From 165 KHz to 320 KHz. They go off at the same time as well. The period from off to on is not predictable yet and only one channel seems to have modulation. When I lived near the big city I saw many broad band signals around 160 KHz to 190. I was assuming the power companies were using a broadband signal but that's what happens when you assume. I am speculating that the activity I am seeing recently started to happen. Otherwise I would have known about it. I spend to much time listening to this radio. These are not being predictable about time on/time off. But I have seen many instances now. The amplitude of their carriers are fairly strong. None are equal so I believe that would say each carrier represents a different local. I think this is the power company. I will let you know if it is otherwise.

I used to have a low frequency transmitter to listen to when I lived near the big city (San Antonio). It was quite clear and identified voice in AM. I hear a lot less in LF now than I did then. This transmitter belonged to Randolph AF Base and was used in their drills as an alternate form of communication. I have been listening to LF and VLF for many years now and needed to say it can get boring. But it does fascinate me.
