Thanks for all the additional thoughts and comments, everyone. I *think* I’m making progress, turns out the Windows 11 version that Parallels Desktop installs on a Mac by default needs to be activated in order to be able to direct the Argo input to the VB-cable output, with such activation requiring a one-time license from Microsoft. So, license secured with a bit of cash, no problem. But, the Win11 version installed by Parallels was 11 Pro, not 11 Home, which is the license I bought because it was $50 cheaper and I didn’t need all the Pro functionalities, if indeed any distinction exists at all. But the problem was my 11Home Activation Key that I paid for would not unlock the 11Pro installed by Parallels by default. So then I de-installed Parallels then reinstalled it pointing it to my freshly downloaded (and paid for!) Win11Home dmg installer, and all went smoothly. However, now I can’t get rid of the old Win11 Pro (inactivated) virtual machine that lives inside of Parallels. But no worries I can apparently toggle to the right one, the virtual machine that runs the now-activated Windows 11 Home (that I’m now fully licensed for). So now I’ll deinstall then reinstall Argo and see if I can get it to talk to VB cable now that I have a lawfully activated Windows 11 running on my Mac (inside Parallels).

This is essentially a comedy of madness of course, but I’m so, so familiar with this from 3 decades of dealing with PCs in the scientific/corporate world where PCs predominate. Now, I have only one observation to make and I’m trusting I’m making it among friends: none of the issues I’ve been fiddling around with and gradually fixing one by one have involved the Mac platform. Every issue, if I ignore the fact that the whole reason I’m doing this is to run QRSS on a Mac in the first place, has had to do with troubleshooting Windows issues. For any of my LW Message Board friends out there who wish to continue debating the relative merits of PCs vs. Mac’s, I propose doing so over a beer or three at a local brewpub! 😂😂😂
