Just a quick note about hearing JJY on 40 kHz a few minutes ago from here in the frozen Midwest. Local time was 10:15 AM EST (15:15 Z) and dang if I could still hear the faint second ticks of JJY and even some CW. This is really late in the morning for almost the middle of Feb since local SR was at 7:45 AM ! We are long into daylight here. So if you want have a listen before spring and summer QRN fires up and short night times will make hearing it very hard. My distance to JJY is about 10,500 km with 1/3 of that path over land. Should be an easy kill for those out west.

Oh, also I found a neat US military station hammering away with some FSK on 54.0 kHz. Call sign is NDI. I mention this because if you can see/hear NDI there is a good chance you will also be able to hear JJY. 73 Gedas W8BYA
