Hi there Bud. Glad the explanation helped out a little. So other than a couple of Fortran courses I had to take many, many decades ago I know zip about programming. As a ham I piddled around with BASIC a bit but that was it.So the description you are going to get from me is one of a true novice, missing out a lot of details and from a non-programmer. I was 100% a hardware engineer during my career.....the farthest thing from a software engineer :-)
What is really neat is that with the help of AI I was able to cobble together this program using a language called Python in just a day or two. In a nutshell Python uses modules/libraries that are called up and loaded that allow the program to perform specific functions. It is freely available off the web and there are thousands of different modules/libraries available to help you perform specific functions like plotting or designing filters or analyzing things. I send AI my requests and it collects the required modules, organizes them, then compiles them into one final executable file.
I could have asked the AI agent to compile the program for a Mac or even Linux pc. I am currently designing a custom audio notch filter that will remove carriers and birdies from recordings I have made of LW broadcasts. It should be pretty neat and something my SDR control program cannot do very well which is why I am doing it.
