My recollection is that I spread the U3S kit construction over a 2 or 3 day period --no GPS included. My K0LR circuit uses homebrew wirewound toroids in the filter section, which differs from his schematic. The first hifer I built used an NE555 to generate a very slow sawtooth waveform which was copied in Kansas a few years ago when we had a better (but declining) solar flux index. Dave
