LWCA Message Center Guidelines for Posting   Encouraged Content This board is primarily for discussions about longwave radio, including broadcasting, radionavigation, utilities, amateur and Part 5 or Part 15 experimenters below 530 kHz, and VLF/ULF natural radio signals. Secondarily, it is also about radio experimentation in other bands where regulations permit low power unlicensed operation (aka, MedFERs and HiFERs). Reception reports involving longwave stations, posts about LF communication technology, and any related electronic, ham, and scientific topics that overlap with longwave radio, are especially welcome. Individual non-commercial buy/sell/trade messages are permitted, but buyer beware! Neither the LWCA nor staff of this site can vouch for either party in a transaction, nor the merchandise involved. (For benefit of the clueless: "non-commercial" means you're selling only your own personal property--meaning, something you bought or built for your own use at some point--not retailing or brokering merchandise on a regular basis, or selling for the purpose of making a profit, be it a full-time business or a sideline!) Prohibited Content Content that is inappropriate in a family environment, or which violates any law, or which encourages others to do so, is not permitted. Personal insults or taunts, bullying or any behavior resembling it, political commentary, and any extended off-topic discussions are not permitted. Commercial advertising is prohibited in messages from anyone other than a recognized supporter of this site, who (at the webmaster's discretion) may be permitted occasional brief announcements of new versions of their product or service, typically once or twice per year. Messages intended to promote an auction on e-Bay or any similar service, if the writer has any stake or personal involvement whatsoever, are not permitted. There are two exceptions relating to online auctions:    a. It is OK to mention items you found on e-Bay if you have no involvement with the seller. This can be of great benefit to other experimenters.    b. If you first offer items for sale (non-commercially, as defined above) to members of this group for at least seven days without a buyer, then you may mention that you are putting them on e-Bay. Other than these two exceptions, promoting e-Bay or similar for-profit sites will be deemed commercial advertising. Prohibited advertising includes promotion of any commercial online social platform. Examples: Messages whose principal purpose is to promote or benefit an online "group" such as those on Facebook, .io, or any similar platform in lieu of this site, are not permitted. Moderators and the Webmaster have sole discretion to remove posts and/or close threads that contain prohibited content, subject to the disclaimers highlighted in red below. Closed threads might not be archived, and deleted posts definitely will not be. Other Important Guidelines This is a family-friendly site. You are expected to conduct yourself accordingly and exercise common sense in posting here. This includes not only obvious points such as suitability of language and subject matter, but also respect for others who use the Board, and for the law. The webmaster and persons designated by him may at any time remove any message which (in their sole judgement) is objectionable, advocates violation of laws or regulations, is too far off topic, and/or violates any rules of this board. However, readers are also expected to exercise discernment and due caution when responding to or otherwise acting upon the content of any post. If you quote from another source in your message, please indicate prior to the start of the passage that it is a quote, and name the source. Do not quote entire articles, nor extended passages whose very length might be construed as copyright infringement. Excerpts only, please! As with most forums, we strongly discourage the practice of "bumping" to keep your thread visible, with very rare exceptions for good cause. In particular, please do not start new threads that are simply a repeat of your earlier comment or request! Not every user visits this board every day. If anyone can respond to you, they eventually will; if they don't, then it usually means no one has the answer. But if you continually repeat yourself, people stop noticing your posts. Please specify if there is some portion you do not wish to appear in print.
