Hi Bruce, It has been most interesting working on PLC in the filed. There is info on the net regarding PLC.. RFL Electronics is still manufacturing products for the market: https://www.rflelect.com/solutions/protective-relaying-communications-solutions/power-line-carrier This site has a good description: https://electrical-engineering-portal.com/download-center/books-and-guides/relays/plcc-line-relaying I think PLC is one of the best ways to protect our HV transmission lines. If the line is still in the air then the communications path and high speed line protection (operating the HV breakers) are in-service. There are no problems with point-to-point microwave paths failing. No "spade fade" on fiber optic communications links. The 2nd best carrier is fiber optics on the ground wire of the HV transmission lines. I've seen these comm paths fail due to rifle fire.
