Good points, Glenn, Another consideration for antennas is what can the prospective operator build or accommodate? The top loaded vertical + matching coil is a best known method. However it is not the sort of thing that many of us can set up. Alternative designs, therefore, are welcome if we understand the compromises involved. The comparisons would make interesting reading.
