I use a "loop on ground" with no preamp as an antenna. I have an nRSP-ST from SDRPlay as an SDR. I would not recommend the nRSP-ST at this time because of the software. The loop on ground has about 600 ft of wire in a large rectangle. The loop on ground works pretty well up to about 170 to 180 mHz. I don't know how or why but it does pretty well on high frequencies. Maybe because of where I live. It works best in the short wave. I could use better performance in Long Wave but the noise level is pretty good until I get to VLF. Too many LED lights around for it to be perfect.
