Thanks for the detailed description! I'm using a 520ft Beverage antenna about 10ft off the ground aimed in a north east direction. I have a built in preamp at the antenna feed point that I can switch in or out of the circuit remotely. Sometimes it works nicely and sometimes it's better without it depending on conditions. For feed line, I use shielded cat 5 computer cable. My feed line is 600 ft long from the Beverage feed point back to my shack. The twisted pairs in the cable does a great job of shielding the signal back to the receiver, and I use one set of pairs in the cable to deliver the 12 volts needed to power the preamp. In spite of the long distance, the 12 vdc seems to work well out at the pre-amp. I use another set of wires in the cable to confirm if the preamp is in use or not. Back at the shack, I have a small LED mounted in my antenna patch panel that lights up only if the preamp is getting power at the feed point. It's all a pretty slick setup that seems to work well, especially in the Winter. You can see photos of all this stuff at my QRZ page - https://www.qrz.com/db/KI5OMM if you are interested.
