The type 31 core will definitely help out more than a type 43 core esp for the lower frequencies. If you are trying to to knock out RFI at low frequencies pick cores with a very high permeability value (Mu). Cores made of type 75 or type W work well. And by all means try not to just use a single turn snap on core. For VHF and UHF these work but not for HF and below. Multiple turns around that core will exponentially increase it's effectiveness down low. The resistive losses can increase as the square of the number of turns (up to a point). 73 Gedas W8BYA
